MONARCH HEALTHCARE RECEIVES STANDARDS OF EXCELLENCE AWARD FROM STATE PHYSICIAN GROUP

IRVINE, Calif. -- The California Association of Physician Groups (CAPG) will honor Monarch HealthCare with elite status in the 2010 Standards of Excellence program for providing patients with quality, affordable healthcare. Monarch HealthCare Medical Group surpassed thresholds for recognition in all four categories of the 2010 Standards of Excellence program.

The award categories include care management practices, health information technology, accountability and transparency, and patient centered care. This recognition validates the teamwork and commitment to providing access to quality patient care in the community.

"We are honored to receive this recognition by our peers," said Dr. Bart Asner, Chief Executive Officer of Monarch. "Monarch strives to provide the best care to our patients in a coordinated care model."

Standards of Excellence is a CAPG initiative in its fourth year, designed to assess and report the key features and capabilities of accountable, coordinated healthcare organizations to bring value in both quality and affordability to both individual and populations of patients. The 2010 survey instrument and reports are posted on the website www.capg.org.

Monarch HealthCare is an Independent Practice Association ("IPA") and is the largest physician organization in Orange County. Formed in 1994, Monarch HealthCare is contracted with more than 2,500 independent, private-practice physicians who provide health care for approximately 170,000 Orange County residents. Recognized by health plans and business groups for providing high quality care and excellent service, Monarch HealthCare is owned and operated by physicians who have demonstrated their commitment to advancing medical excellence and exemplifying the “patient-first” philosophy of healthcare in their communities.
